Insurance Policy
What's covered, what isn't, and what you need to know before you drive.
"Insurance claims can take months to resolve. The excess applies in respect of each claim."
All insurance cover will be made void if any of the exclusions or terms of the rental agreement are breached. Damage Coverage is forfeited on breach.
What's NOT Covered
In these scenarios, the hirer is fully liable for all associated costs.
Water Damage
- Submersion in water
- Contact with salt water
- Creek or river crossings
- Driving through flooded areas
- Beach driving
Unauthorised Use
- Driver not on contract
- Lending vehicle to 3rd party
- Driving under the influence
- Skipping licence verification
Single Vehicle Accidents
- Not covered under standard terms
- Hirer is fully responsible
Under-body & Overhead
- Regardless of excess package
- Hirer's full responsibility
- Wilful conduct (e.g. standing on vehicle)
Personal Belongings
- Not covered under any circumstances
- Take out separate personal insurance
- Don't leave valuables in the vehicle
Your Liabilities
Costs that are always the hirer's responsibility regardless of insurance.
Fuel & Keys
Incorrect use of fuel (misfilling petrol/diesel) and the cost to replace lost, broken, or locked-in keys are fully payable by the hirer.
Passenger Capacity
Vehicles must only carry the legal limit of passengers. Ambrose Car Rental accepts no responsibility for incidents involving overloading.
Bond Forfeiture Notice
If drivers are not identified on the agreement or lack a current open licence, the renter forfeits their bond in full.
